Teaching ESL with Crossword Puzzles

Teaching ESL with crossword puzzles is a method of vocabulary teaching through solving a crossword. In the English worksheet a crossword usually consists of the words concerning the topic of the lesson. For example, if a lesson topic is ‘Food and Drink’ the words used in the crossword would include: ‘potato’, ‘borsch’, ‘pizza’, ‘melon’ etc. Teaching ESL with crossword puzzles enables the teacher to give students a task that can be used as a test of their instant vocabulary.

Thus the words stay safe in students mind and ready to be used in most suitable situations.
